McQueeney Baptist was first known as First McQueeney Baptist Church. It was organized in the summer of 1950 by Rev. FF Everett. The congregation began meeting outdoors under the mulberry tree in front of Mary Cloud’s house. Most people brought their own chairs. The congregation then moved up to the Hill’s house.
Bro. Everett took out a loan at Seguin State Bank and Ralph Shanafelt and Taylor Thomas co-signed for the loan. Bro. Everett, with the help of other Christian men, built the church with their own hands. The present building (currently the Fellowship Hall) was dedicated on June 24, 1951, at 3pm. About 160 people were in attendance for the opening. In August 1955, the church note was paid in full by an unknown donor. Since that time, the church has been the only church in McQueeney , Texas and has been a continuous witness in the community; however, in the late 1970’s the church experienced a decline in attendance down to about 9 people for worship and no Sunday school attendance, so they closed their doors.
On October 14, 1990, McQueeney Baptist returned to mission status under the sponsorship of First Baptist Church of Seguin. The church was now called McQueeney Baptist Mission and David Eikenburg was called as the Interim Pastor. On July 21, 1991, Bro. Eikenburg was called as full time pastor. On October 3, 1993, McQueeney Baptist Church was constituted as a separate congregation from First Baptist Seguin. Construction on new building began on Feb 18, 1996, and in December 1999 more land was purchased. On July 11, 2005, Bro. Eikenburg died tragically in a cycling accident so one of the members of the church, Jim Muse became the Interim pastor until the full time pastor was called.
