McQueeney Baptist Welcomes

New  Youth Director

Rick Stewart or Pastor Rick, as he likes to be called, has been volunteering at Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels, Texas since last June. Rick is a graduate of Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, TN with a B.S. in Youth Ministry. He moved to the San Antonio area in order to go to the Southwestern Seminary. Rick is hoping to go to the Seminary in the future to receive his masters degree. Rick was recently discharged from the Army in October after 4 years in the reserves.

Straight Talk from Pastor Rick:

I know it says I went to school in Tennessee, but don't hold that against me...I was born in Bryan, TX...so at worst I was only a 'misplaced Texan'. Now that I got that out of the way, I just wanted to get a chance to say how excited I am about becoming a part of the McQueeney family, and that I believe great things are going to continue to happen within the life of the Church here.

I am especially excited about the Youth Ministry, and the way that I have seen God at work in the lives of the students. I believe He is planning to do great things with these youth...using them to breach through to the world in which they live. My desire is to have the students come to understand who God is...that He is Real and Relevant...and then take that message of hope and freedom to the people who need it.

Something one of my Bible College professors once told me is that, “Ministers must constantly be working themselves out of a job.” What he meant is that as a minister I am to continuously be equipping the members of that Church, specifically the youth in my case, with the knowledge, ability, and encouragement so that they are able to do everything I was trained to do. I can't wait to see how long it takes to work myself 'out of a job'. Let's get to it.

In Christ,

Rick Stewart

An elderly woman had just returned to her home from an evening of church services, when she was startled by an        intruder.  She caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables and yelled: ''Stop! Acts 2:38!'' (Repent and be Baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins may be forgiven.)

The burglar stopped in his tracks. The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done.

As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the   burglar: ''Why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a scripture to you.''

''Scripture?", replied the burglar.  "She said she had an Ax and Two 38s!''

Acts 2:38
